2 months

Our sweet baby boy is already two months old! We have been enjoying every second and its incredible to watch him change, learn & grow! I'm behind in my blogging but I wanted to go ahead and document his 2 month photos and what he's up to these days.

  • You love to smile - especially at mommy, daddy & nanna. You also smile when you see something that excites you or during play time.
  • You are making more & more cooing sounds. Not just "cooo" but "ahhh", "gaaa", "gooo", and some others that I can't quite make out.
  • You have started to laugh & squeal in delight during play time or if daddy makes you laugh!
  • You are a wiggle worm! - you love to kick your legs and move your arms very quickly. I'm worried you are going to roll over any day now so we have to keep a close eye on you!
  • You are very alert. It amazes me how you can zone in on something and not lose interest for several minutes.
  • You have started to figure out how your eye - hand coordination. You will bat at a toy if it is in front of your face and you get VERY frustrated it if you can't reach it.
  • You are pretty much sleeping 5-8 hours at night. Usually its around 7. You go to bed around 9:30 and usually wake up around 5 (but sometimes around 2 or 3). You eat better when you wake up at 5...when you wake up at 2 or 3 you only "snack" for about 15 minutes before falling back asleep. You wake up again around 6:30 to eat. Usually you fall back asleep until 8am. Its not until after your 8am feeding that you are really awake and ready to play. - Then, it starts your 3 hour rotation - you take "cat naps" and its hard for mommy to get a lot of things done but at least you take short power naps :) You nap around 9:30, 12 & 2:30. You only sleep between 30-40 minutes but sometimes - and only sometimes you will sleep for little over an hour. When you wake up, you eat for about 30 minutes, play for about 40 minutes and then you zone out until your tired again.  I put you in your crib (on your stomach) to nap but you are still sleeping in your pack & play bassinett next to mommy's bed. I really need to switch you to your crib at night but I'm worried you will not sleep as well so I haven't sucked it up. Plus, there is something very comforting about you being just a few feet away.
  • You have way more poopie diapers than I ever thought you would! You pretty much have 5-7 a day! Some are bigger than others but I thought you would have less as you got older. The pediatrician doesn't seem to be worried. She said you are just using what you need and the rest is going straight through!
  • You have gained an average of 1 pound per week since your 1 month appointment!! WOW! You currently weigh 12lbs 12.8 ounces and are 23 inches long.
  • You had 2 shots and one oral vaccination yesterday. I've never heard you scream so loud!! It made mommy tear up. I fed you right afterwards which calmed you down. Nanna was with us and she played with you on the way home. This is when we realized you would bat at a toy put in front of your face! I have tried to get you to do this but I guess I wasn't putting the toy close enough! You took a very long afternoon nap. I guess it was because you were exhausted from the Dr visit. Mommy went to the hospital to see the Dobbs family and to meet your new friend Parker! Nanna stayed at the house to watch you and you slept from about 2:30-5:30!! I couldn't believe it. Of course you will not take long naps when mommy is here to do things around the house. ;)
  • You favor your left hand when you bat at your toys. Maybe you will be left-handed like your Uncle Wes?
  • You are wearing 0-3 month outfits, some 3 month outfits, 3-6 month pajamas, size 1 diapers.
  • You take a pacifier when you go down for your naps and when you are super fussy (usually because you have gas and are trying to "work" something out).
  • From 7-9pm is still really hard for mommy because you only want me and you want to nurse. The doctor said its good for you to do this cluster feeding and it makes you sleep longer (which I like!) but this really makes it hard for me to go to kickboxing or dinner with friends. Luckily daddy has been a trooper and works hard to keep you happy when I go to workout during these times. I try to keep with the 6:00 workout class but KB is at 7pm on Wednesdays! I really enjoy the kickboxing and I'm glad that I've started doing it again but I feel so guilty when I leave you during your fussy times. There just isn't anyone else that can make you happy!
  • You LOVE to stare at the ceiling fans & lights around the house. You especially love the window frame mommy made with your Aunt Sarah last year. It sits above the couch in the TV room and you could stare at it all day. I guess its all the colors & textures!
