36 weeks

How far along? 36 weeks

Total weight gain/loss? 26 lbs

Maternity clothes? yes! yes! I mostly wear stretchy pants or cotton dresses since I'm on bed rest and its all about comfort!

Stretch marks? Only on my boobs. I'm surprised they are not any place else. Strange.

Morning Sickness?  nope.

Sleep? Still pretty great ...considering I hear some people can't get comfortable at all. I still get up 2-3 times per night to go to the bathroom and about 1-2 times per week I wake up for no good reason and I cannot go back to sleep for hours! That part is frustrating. I've also been having crazy dreams. I think my dreams are bringing out the nervous/anxious energy at night which is better than having it during the day. ;)

Best moment last week?   I love it when Brad kisses my belly before bed and tells William good night. It warms my heart. (this didn't only happen last week but its one of my favorite things about being pregnant).
I'm going to be a mommy in less than a month!!

Appointments -  My 35 week appointment was pretty uneventful except that they did another ultrasound that showed my amniotic fluid went up from a 8 to a 13 which was great news! They put me on the monitor and William looked great. Dr S checked me and nothing had changed. Still not dilated. A few days later, on Saturday (35 weeks, 4 days), I was getting ready to go meet Kelli, Matt, Josa & Greg for brunch down town. Dr S said I could go out to eat and Brad was home to drive me since it was Saturday. I showered, did my make up and dried my hair. We were about to leave when I started to feel nauseous and my head was throbbing. I decided to take my blood pressure. My mom has had high blood pressure for about 2 years now so she has a tester. My BP is usually pretty low, like 110/64 or somewhere in there.  I took it and it was 138/83 which is high for me and it stayed in that range each time I took it (3 x's before I called the Dr's office). The answering service took a message and Dr S called me back. She said that my BP has never done that before so I needed to head to the hospital so they could run some tests for preeclampsia (high BP that stays high and can be very dangerous for William & I). I was surprisingly calm the whole time and Brad & I were even cracking jokes and having a laid back conversation on the way to the hosp. We went to Triage and they took some blood, urine, and put me on the monitor. Will looked great and my BP went down and stayed down. The urine & blood tests came back normal. Luckily we were released after 3 hours because we were STARVING. We were both so agitated by that time because we were so stinkin' hungry. We know to eat something before our next visit to the hospital. I really didn't think there was anything wrong but Dr S said I did the right thing by paying attention to my body's signs and heading to the hospital.
My 36 week appointment was yesterday:
and not much has changed. I basically begged Dr S to come off bed rest and she wasn't having it.
She explained that it wasn't Pre-Term Labor that she was trying to prevent and that its more about the preelampsia which can come out of nowhere and be really dangerous for me & Will. I've been pretty obedient with this whole bed rest thing so I'm not really concerned about this. However, I will pay close attention to how I feel - it was the nausea and headache that made me take my blood pressure in the first place on Saturday and she said I did a great job paying attention to by body's clues and did the right thing by calling and going to the hospital.

I was monitored for about 30 minutes and I am having some contractions still but nothing painful or close together (Braxton Hicks). Its good to have some contractions at this point though so no biggie. I asked her if we had any "plans" at this point or if we were just waiting on Will. She said that "he needs a GPS" to find my cervix. He is head down but cannot find his way to my cervix which means I'm not dilating at all. I told her I was afraid that he will stay in until 41 weeks and she said that he may try to do that but we can't decide to do anything differently until 39 weeks (3 weeks from now). She said that "due to his size", she will be surprised if I'm able to have a vaginal delivery if he decides to stay in for the long haul. ...which to me, sounds like I could be planning a c-section at 39 weeks (ala Amy) but I'm still hoping/praying he gets his hands on a GPS and finds his way to my cervix. I'd prefer to have a vaginal delivery even though he's probably past 7lbs this week!  Dr S said to lay on my right side more than my left to see if that helps him find his way.

Movement? This is still my favorite. He is getting pretty strong though so sometimes it hurts & catches me off guard when he nudges me or pushes. I think he is confused and thinks my belly button is my cervix! He's trying to come out that way! ha.

Food cravings? Today I am craving a hamburger with avocado...or just avocado in general. Guacamole would be devine.

Gender? Our sweet little boy.

Labor signs? My Braxton Hicks contractions are becoming more noticeable but they are not close together or painful.

Belly button in/out? I don't have a very deep belly button to begin with but its definitely slightly above surface level now. No more belly button left to go anywhere! Its so funny looking.

What I miss: Being able to exercise, leaving the house to meet friends whenever I want, ...pretty much anything that is the opposite of bed rest. I'm praying Will decides to come on his own soon because I'm pretty sure 4 more weeks of bed rest will drive me bananas.

Milestones: from babycenter.com

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.
At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

Stupid things people have said lately:
While Brad and I were at the grocery store: The woman in front of us (who was a black lady in line to buy Whoppers!) turned around and said "There's a baby in there!". My thoughts: No crap, lady.
Then she said, "Is it a boy or girl", I responded "Boy".
She said  "Just one??"
I responded "yes"
Lady: "you sure?"
me: YES, I'm SURE.
