Our Weekend - In a Nutshell

Let me start by saying that this weekend was my favorite kind of weekend. A little bit of responsibility & a little bit of something just for me. I really should make every weekend include those two things.
Friday night I came home from work and had dinner waiting (I made pulled pork in the slow cooker -- God bless the Slow Cooker). I had a great conversation with my mother-in-law, which is always fun & Brad and I watched a movie. While we were watching the movie it started thundering & lightening. We didn't even know there was more than a 10% chance of rain. We ended up getting 1/2 an inch!! 3 years ago, I never imagined myself making a really big deal out of rain but when you own your own home and put soooo much time & energy into your yard, you start to care!
Saturday my mom & I decided to go to the Treasures from the Attic yard sale that joined forces with the dixiehighway.org yard sale
This sale includes antique lovers & your basic yard-sale bizarre!
There was this one store in Marietta, called One of a Kind that I've seen before but have never been in. I bought a clock, an iron magazine stand, some jars, vases & a bird house made of wood. Just a bunch of stuff to add to the house. I love one of a kind finds so this store was right of my alley! Plus, it was an added bonus that I spent some valuable QT with my mom.
We had planned on meeting Sarah for lunch at this restaurant called Chicagos. All the girls & I really like this restaurant because it is a piano bar and has great lobster bisque (for Georgia). They have this HUGE sign out front that says "Now Serving Lunch"...Yeah, everyday but Saturday!! So mom & I met Sarah at Chicagos ---- but ended up going to a Mexican Restaurant! We had a great time and, as always, it was great to spend time with Sarah and catch up on the most recent happenings. My mom loves Sarah (what's not to love?) and so they had a good time catching up too! Plus, when my mom "sniffs" a margarita, she lets loose. haha!
After lunch, Mom & I tried a few more yard sale spots but they were picked over, so we headed home. I picked some flowers for the house & took a much needed nap b/c the sun drains me! It was 96 degrees on saturday!!
Saturday night, we met our very close friends, Rian & Lauren for dinner in a local town, Hiram. Rian & Lauren have become very good friends to us and we all count on each other when we need a favor. Not to mention, we get along very well & have a great time together!! We try to have dinner once a week. We found this new Irish Pub in Hiram called McFarlands. It is in Historic Hiram and has a great atmosphere & pretty good food, too! We have been goinh there for the past few weeks so, last night, we decided to go somewhere different. We decided on Buffalos.
Buffalos is a chain restaurant that is famous for their hot wings. Everyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE to eat hot wings. The funny thing about the Buffalos in Hiram is that, it has a "Saloon" attached. You have to be 18 to get into it and it attracts a VERY INTERESTING crowd.

*** See my next post for "You know you're in Hiram when".....****

We had a fun dinner together and we are so fortunate to have met such good friends that live sooo close (they live about 7 miles from us!).

Today was a good day. I got up, watched 27 Dresses (totally reminded me of Summer!! haha). Really cute movie & I definitely cried!
I cleaned the floors, did some laundry, dusted the furniture, put a roast in the Slow Cooker, etc etc...
around 2:30 we went to Mom & Dad's to swim in the pool. It was 97 degrees here today & scorching HOT! The pool is awesome & we are so greatful to be able to walk over there to swim. Not to mention, Chulo LOVES to swim. Brad plays with Chulo & Karch (who will not get in the pool) with the tennis ball. The ball has a hole in it so it sinks. Brad will make the ball sink and Chulo will dive his whole head under the water to get the ball! I've never seen a dog do that before & its the funniest thing! We swam for a couple of hours (I had my 30 SPF on!).
When we came home, I scrubbed the outdoor rocking chairs & wicker furniture. It was so nasty from the dusty road. I hate that!
Mom & dad came over to eat the roast and then my mom, Brad & I (dad went home to cut the fields) drank some wine on the rocking chairs. We have an overhead fan on the porch so it wasn't too hot.
Well --- That's our weekend in a nutshell. I am headed to do some more laundry and to clean the master bathroom (story of my life!!). All in All it was a great weekend! I miss all of you loyal readers & I know that a lot of you did a bunch of fun things too! I can't wait til the next time we see each other!

Here are some photos of last weekend's dinner with Rian & Lauren. I should have posted these last week...but better late than never. I didn't bring my camera into the restuarant/SALOON! last night but I REALLY WISH I would have so you would all be VERY Entertained with the Rednecks we encountered. HA!

I'll be anxious to read "you know you're in Hiram when..." because I have no idea where that is! Ha. I had so much fun with you and your mom! I love Maureen on a margarita! See you tonight! Love you!

Ahhh! Sounds like you had a very fun weekend. You cook and clean more in one weekend than I do in a month. Josh definitely married the wrong girl! I wish I could meet you and Sarah tonight for dinner, but I have a tennis match. Let's plan on doing it again....maybe Marlows in Smyrna or Blue Moon Pizza of Windy Hill!
