7 months

I'm officially a month behind in my blog again. I can't seem to change that pattern! Although you are turning 8 months in just a few days, I'm just now getting around to posting this 7 month update. Luckily I wrote it a few weeks ago :)
  • You cut your first tooth the day after you turned 7 months. You were not very fussy but we could tell it was bothering you because you were chewing on anything you could get your hands on.
  • You are making the funniest faces and noises. You pierce your lips a lot to make fishy faces and you make ‘motor’ sounds too!
  • We took our first family vacation when you were about 6-1/2 months. We went to the Keys with your Grandpa Bill and Grandma Sandy. Uncle Kevin, Aunt Blair, Cousin Max, Uncle Wes and his girl friend Aisha joined us. We had SO much fun. You were such a good baby while we were there. You really only got upset when you were hungry. If we put you in your highchair without having the food ready, you would get really upset. We also introduced you to a sippy cup with water while we were on vacation. You seem to like water and after a couple of days you learned how to pick the sippy cup up because it has two handles on the sides. But sometimes you still have a hard time tilting it up far enough if the water is lower and here & there you even turn it upside down and chew on the bottom!
  • Your favorite sound to make while we were on vacation was “ba, ba, ba”, the next week it was “ma, ma, ma” and now its “da, da, da”. You are currently saying da-da to everything! You are also combining more consonants and vowels together. “ra, ra, re” or “la-ma”. I think you are really trying to say something. When I say a word, you look at me with a very concentrated intent look on your face and then you say something in response. Sometimes it actually sounds like the word I said! Like last night, I said “Duck” while you were chewing on your rubber ducky after your bath and you said “du”. Probably just a coincidence but I was so proud anyway!
  • You love to throw your toys. You throw anything you can get your hands on. I’m amazed at how far you can throw things sometimes! You started doing it one day when Nana came over to play on a Saturday afternoon. You were playing with your Hippo toy. It has slots for colored shapes – circle, square, octagon & triangle. You put the shapes in the slots and push the top of the hippo, the shapes spin around and come out the hippos mouth! You love this toy and quickly picked up on that you have to push the top to get the shapes out.
  • You are really playing well on your tummy! Sometimes you get frustrated when a toy is out of your reach but you don’t despise tummy time like you did when you were younger. You try really hard to reach for your toys. When a toy is out of your reach, you are even trying to figure out how you can scoot on your tummy to get it. You usually end up pushing yourself further away or you scoot around in circles.
  • You love peek-a-boo. Especially when daddy plays it with you! You think its hilarious when daddy ‘surprises’ you from around a corner or while hiding behind something.
  • You still love food! That hasn’t changed. You are eating stage 3 foods now.  You’ve also been eating Baby Mum-Mums (rice cakes that dissolve in your mouth). We also introduce puffs while we were on vacation. We started with ½ a puff and after a couple of weeks, we are giving you full puffs. You can sometimes do the “pincher grab” to pick up the puff and put it in your mouth but most of the time you put it in your fist and try to put it in your mouth by putting your whole hand in your mouth. By the time you are done with your puff-time – you maybe have eaten 4 out of 10 puffs and the rest are either stuck to your hands, face, or in your high chair!  Its funny to watch!
  • You have started to take longer naps according to Miss TT. Sometimes you even take two naps over an hour long but usually you take your longest nap in the afternoon. You usually nap well for us during the weekends too! I would say that you're still not consistent though because sometimes you only nap for 30-45 minutes and other times almost 2 hours!
  • You still fall asleep in the car on the way home from TTs most days. Maybe one day out of the week you will not fall asleep in the car. I'm very careful when I take you out of the car in your bucket seat so you stay asleep. I even come inside first to let Chulo out so he doesn't get too excited and wake you. I typically start dinner while you are finishing up your nap. You are usually awake by 5:45 and you eat your solids around 6. You definitely enjoy dinner time! After dinner, we play til about 7:15 and then start bedtime stories before you bath at around 7:30. You are usually in bed by 8pm although sometimes time slips away from us and you stay up a little later, especially on the weekends. However, you definitely seem to thrive on your schedule and you are in better spirits if you are able to go to bed on the early side (Just like Mommy) :)
