3 months
Another month has passed and I find myself wondering where it went!? I've enjoyed every second of being at home and watching Will grow & develop. Hes such an active & smart little baby. I love sleep and I cannot believe my child doesn't...I'm still hoping that changes :)
I don't have the photos edited yet from his 3 month mini-session but I wanted to go ahead and jot some things down about what Will is doing at 3 months.
To my sweet little boy: Mommy & Daddy love you more than we could ever describe in words. You make each day brighter and bring so much joy & laughter into our lives. Mommy can't believe she only has a little over a month left with you at home before she has to go back to work. She is dreading it! At 3 months you are:
- Getting SO big! I'm not sure exactly how much you weigh because the scale is broken but I would guess that its well over 15lbs. You are also getting much longer! Probably around 25 inches by now. You do not have a Dr check up for another month so we will just have to guess these measurements for now!
- You LOVE your hands. You have definitely discovered how they work and you try so hard to grab your toys and bring them to your face. You haven't quite figured that part out and you get really frustrated when you can't.
- You don't suck your thumb...yet...but you suck on the outside of your fist (thumb knuckle) and you suck hard. I think you do it when you are concentrating, hungry, and just for comfort so its hard to tell exactly what you need in the moment.
- You are ticklish and it makes mommy & daddy laugh so hard to see your reaction. You mostly laugh on the changing table. You have the sweetest little laugh and it warms my heart each time I hear it. You love your changing table and enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror.
- You love to stare at mommy and daddy. You definitely know when we are in a room and you follow us around with your eyes. When we come to pick you up, you often give big smiles.
- You really enjoy staring at ceiling lights & fans! You could sit on our master bedroom bed forever and stare at that ceiling fan. Lately you've started to get a little frustrated because you can't reach out & touch it.
- You are not sleeping as well as you did your first couple of months. Mommy moved you to your crib (from the bassinett in the pack & play) last week (Oct 10th) and some nights you wake up twice (usually around 2 and 5) There have been a couple of nights where you've slept 7 hours but mostly its around 4-5. You've been falling asleep a little earlier lately and I wonder if that has anything to do with it. When you wake up in the middle of the night you only eat for 6-9 minutes before falling back asleep so I wonder if you are REALLY that hungry or its more a comfort thing? I guess I could drive myself crazy questioning your sleep habits at this stage. I hesitate to start sleep training quite yet because I think its too soon to not feed you if you are hungry. Although you are still eating between 2-3 hours during the day. Ive started to TRY to stretch it out a little more but when you are hungry you ARE hungry. I want to come up with a "plan" in a couple more week when you are a little older than 3 months and *hopefully* start to develop a little more of a schedule.
- Naps --- or lack there of -- has not changed. I've started using an app on my phone to keep track of your naps and feedings. You nap for 30-40 minutes every 2-3 hours. You only take longer naps if mommy or daddy are holding you and we try not to do that very often because we don't want you to get used to it. We'd rather you nap in your crib. You will sometimes nap longer if you are in your stroller or the carseat but even that varies depending on your mood.
- You just LOVE to play! You are very active. You really enjoy checking things out, listening to someone talk to you, playing on your play mat or with a toy that is being held in front of you. You will play & play until you get so tired that you cry and get cranky. I have a feeling you will be one active little boy!
- You HATE tummy time. Not sure what to do about this one. You need to develop the muscles in your neck for crawling but you will not last very long on your tummy before pitching a bloody fit. Sometimes you last long than others if I time it JUST perfectly. It also helps when you are on the boppy pillow. Ive started to take the boppy away and prop you up on a blanket. I will make the prop smaller & smaller until you are on the floor happily - per advice from your Aunt Lauren. Your friend Savannah hated tummy time too but that was because she had a problem with her neck.
- you love to hear your own voice :) You love to talk and are making all sorts of sounds. You especially love to look at mommy and talk while you are nursing lately. While it can be frustrating to get you through a feeding at those times, you just look so stinkin cute smiling up at me & talking.
- You are just about out of size 1 diapers. They still fit but JUST barely. You can now wear 6 month jammies and 3-6 month clothes.
