Convenient

For those of you that do not already know this, Brad & I built a house on my parents' land so we live a hop, skip and a jump away from them. You can't see our house from theirs but it only takes about 7 minutes to walk there. When you walk through our backyard, you come upon the Christmas Tree Farm. My dad started selling Christmas Trees the year I was born so they have had this family business for 28 years now. This has always been Dad's hobby (& 2nd job) but over the last couple of years I have really noticed the toll it is taking on his body and how he really shouldn't be doing it anymore as he gets older. Its hard to watch him work so hard and the other day he took a pretty bad fall while trying to get a metal rod out of the ground. It was the day before thanksgiving and there were some customers at the farm. A little boy was climbing on a pen next to the barn and dad noticed the metal rebarb (spelling?). Anyway, he went to pull it out of the ground and slipped on some pine straw. He landed on his chest and he has a huge bruise. Chrissy & Mom were there when it happened and they said it was very scary! I wasn't there but I can admit that it is very scary to think about my dad hurting himself. I asked him to get an MRI just to make sure everything is OK but we all know he is way to stubborn for that!! Please keep my dad in your prayers.

back to the story -- He retired from Lockheed a couple of years ago and he is semi-retired from his consulting job but he also needs to retire from the tree farm and hand it over to my sister & brother. Sidenote: I have never been one for helping on the farm as much as my siblings.

For the 2nd year in a row now, Brad and I have hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house and then walked to the "backyard" to pick out our Christmas Tree. There are so many beautiful trees this year (and every year) that it was hard to pick.

The photos below are from our Thanksgiving tree. It is our biggest tree but we also went out the next day and got another one for upstairs. I have been busy decorating all weekend. Decorating...cleaning...decorating...cleaning.

I am very happy with both of our trees! Thanks to Dad for all his hard work!

I must say, Im getting pretty good at taking photos of us while being in the photo.

I just think this clay nativity set is so cute. It sits above our main fireplace.

Our Country Tree. This is the one I spent the most time on.

Today, Jami came out to the farm to get a Christmas Tree for her house. She lives with Courtney and a couple of other people that just recently moved in. A VERY SPECIAL Thank you to Jami for driving out here to get her tree. I know its not the most convenient for you but it meant a lot to me that you made the trip!

Thanks Suzie and Brad for the special VIP treatment at the tree farm and for helping me find the perfect little tree :) So much fun!
