10 months

It seems like you get more & more fun to watch & discover as each day passes. You started doing a lot of things the past month.
  • ·         You are becoming more & more social. You have to know what is going on at all times and you are very curious. You love other kids and you will spot them out in a store and watch them. You are much more interested in other kids than you are adults.
  • ·         You went from doing Vroooom noises at 9 months to doing motorboat noises right before 10 months. You LOVE making this noise and do it all the time.  Especially with your trains, but I’ve been trying to teach you that they say “Choo, choo”. J
  • ·         You love to play with the fire truck that Aunt Blair, Uncle Kev & Max got you for Christmas. You love to drag it across the floor and make a lot of noise. You basically love any toy that makes a lot of noise and you enjoy throwing your toys (now more than ever!).
  • ·         You started pointing at everything the week before you turned 10 months. You point while we are reading books, point at Chulo, point out the window, you point a lot.
  • ·         Speaking of books, you are becoming more patient when its story time. You still much prefer books with pop ups or things you can pull out but you also like the picture books that teach you words – like car, tractor, barn, cow, etc.
  • ·         You waved for the first time the day you turned 10 months and by this I mean, you actually waved in context, because Nana was leaving. Since then, we try to get you to wave when someone is coming or going and its hit or miss. I think you just like to do things on your own time and don’t do it when we ask you too. You wave a lot AFTER we walk away or leave. Its funny. We will get in the car and you’ll be waving away in the direction of the window but nobody can see you.
  • ·         You love to hand us whatever you are playing with…except you don’t really give it to us. You just pretend you are going to J
  • ·         You laugh really hard when we sneeze …or pretend to sneeze. You think this is so funny!  We like to do the pretend sneeze to make you laugh but then you think its pretend when its real too. Haha. You love it when we make any type of silly noise.
  • ·         Mommy loves giving you Eskimo kisses. I love your sweet morning laughs when I’m getting you ready for daycare. I nurse you on one side, change your clothes, sing a little, give you kisses and nurse you on the other side. Daddy usually comes in to say good morning before I nurse you on the other side too.
  • You LOVE it when daddy comes in and you get really excited and say “dada”. You even listen for him in the hall and you pay attention when you hear food steps. Sometimes it’s the dogs you hear and not daddy. But you love Chulo & Karch too! You say “dah” when you see the dogs. We think you are trying to say dog but maybe you are just saying dada. HA!
  • ·         You are doing more and more babbling. You have said hey  a couple of times the last couple of weeks but I don’t know if it is on purpose. You’re favorite sounds to make are “guh” and  “dada” – of course! But you still say mama too and we have been trying to get you to say Dog…you say “da”.
  • ·         You’re understanding more and more. When I saw “uh, uh uh” you know I’m telling you not to do or play with whatever you’re reaching for. You stop and go onto something else.  I don’t expect that to last forever J
  • You try to test me with your sippy cup. Sometimes you still throw it on the ground and then lean over to look at it on the floor. We’ve been teaching you NOT to throw your cup and lately it seems like you are doing it JUST to test us. I can’t believe you already know how to test your mommy & daddy!!
  • ·         I had to start supplementing your bottles with formula the week before you turned 10 months. It was a hard decision for me to make but I just haven’t been producing enough milk to keep up with your feedings. I spoke to Dr Fox about it at your 9 month appointment and she said it was too soon to give you cow’s milk and you really need to have 5 servings of milk each day. You’ve been drinking just that! I nurse you in the morning, you have 3 5ou bottles at daycare and then I nurse you before bed. That’s 15 ounces at daycare!...and I (sadly) only pumping half that if I’m lucky!! I gave you formula for the first time on a Monday (Advanced Similac that I got free in the mail after you were born). I made you a 5ou bottle for your 10:30 feeding.  When I fed you lunch you spit up more than usual but I didn’t think anything of it. The next day you spit up A LOT (more like throw up)  on the way to daycare. Again, I thought it was strange but didn’t think anything of it.  I sent you to daycare with a formula bottle and two breastmilk bottle. Around 12:30 pm, TT called and said you threw up 3 times. I realized at that moment that it was the formula!!! Janelle and  Lauren asked me if I had mixed the formula with breastmilk to ease you into it. I didn’t!! I had no idea. I called Denise (my lactation consultant) on the way to pick you up from daycare (I had to pick you up because you threw up multiple times and there was no way to prove it wasn’t viral) UGH! I knew it was the formula! Anyway, Denise said to mix 3 ounces of breastmilk with 2 ounces of formula and to increase it by an ounce every 4 days. Poor baby! I felt so bad. …Coincidentally your daddy had a VERY VERY bad stomach virus just a couple of days later. He was very sick for 7 days (the worst I’ve ever seen him) but we’re pretty confident that your throwing up spell was only because of the formula. Luckily you and I didn’t catch what daddy had. Probably because I was constantly disinfecting the house and washing our hands! So glad daddy got over that bug and it wasn’t more serious!
I took the following photos on May 20th at the Herendeen's  house. We went swimming and such a good time with our dear friends. You and Parker are really starting to pay attention to each other. You were checking each other out and you were very interested in everything Paxton did too!
