5 months

You turned 5 months on December 17th - Also your Aunt Chrissy's 27th birthday!
You are developing more & more personality every day. You are silly like your daddy and affectionate like your mommy. Your 5 month birthday was an eventful one indeed!
      • You started eating cereal the day you turned 5 months! You made a face when we gave you the first bite but seconds later you opened your mouth wanting more. You acted like you have been eating cereal for weeks! You knew exactly what you were doing and you loved it. You throw your arms around & kick your legs. You look like a baby bird when you are being fed & you get so excited! It makes us laugh.
      • You had been sitting up with help for a few weeks and you could sit by yourself for a few minutes but on your 5 month birthday is when you really started sitting up by yourself for an extended period of time and would play! It was so great to see you do that and you enjoy playing with your toys while on the floor - such as your puppy that sings, your flowers that light up & a ball that is easy to hold.
      • You still love bath time but now you are even playing in the bath tub! You love to splash around and put your hands under the running water. You are just starting to notice your rubber ducky and other bath toys.
      • You are still sleeping well through the night. Every now & then you will wake up in the middle of the night. You always go back to sleep on your own though. Sometimes you fuss and it takes longer, but the max is 20 minutes.
      • I get you up around 5:30-5:45 to get you ready for daycare. Sometimes you aren't very hungry when I get you up and I think you didn't get a big enough meal before you leave but Miss TT has plenty of milk for you so there aren't any worries! Other days you nurse very well when I get you up. On the weekends you will sometimes sleep until 7:30 which is great!
      • You are really starting to notice Chulo. You stare at him when he walks into a room or jumps up on the couch. The downside is that he distracts you when I'm trying to nurse you. You smile at Chulo a lot and you love to reach out & grab his face. Now only if we could teach Chulo that he doesn't have to lick your face constantly.
      • You are starting to show more emotion. You smile & laugh a lot, especially at night before bath time. You are such a curious baby. You want to know what is going on at all times. You are very entertained by other kids too. You love all of the kids at daycare & Miss TT says you especially love it when they dance around. You think that's funny.
      • You notice when I leave the room and sometimes it makes you upset. You like to have someone around to entertain you but sometimes you are just fine by yourself too.
      • You started going in your stationary bouncer/saucer when you were 4 months and really started to like it around 4-1/2 but we put you in your jumperroo at 5 months and you love it! It took you a few days to really get the hang of it but when you get going, its so fun to watch you bounce & bounce! Too cute.
      • You are still wearing size 2 diapers. You wear mostly 3-6 month clothes but some 6-9 depending on the brand (mostly Carters).
      • I'm not sure how much you weighed at 5 months since you didn't have a Dr appointment but you unfortunately had to go to the ER on Dec 29th and you weighed 17lbs, 4 ounces.  (You were diagnosed with Croup). You had been congested for almost two weeks but mostly in your head & nose. A couple of days before, you started coughing and it got worse the evening of the 29th so I decided to turn the monitor up so I could hear you. You woke up around 11:45 and you were coughing, wheezing and almost choking. I sprinted to your nursery and picked you up. You kept coughing and it was very raspy. I called mom & dad. Dad said to put you in the steamy bathroom and that helped a little but your poor little chest sounded rattly. Mom came over and she thought it sounded like Croup. She said we probably should bring you just in case its not something more serious. We arrived at the hospital around 1am. Nana came with us and we were exhausted but it was a pretty pleasant experience considering. You were an angel the whole time. You were looking around at everything and were just wondering why you were awake and not asleep in your crib. You were not running a fever which was great! They gave you a cherry flavored steroid to help with the inflammation in your chest and throat. They also gave you a breathing treatment. It was amazing how much those two things helped and when we finally arrived home at 3am, you were able to sleep with very little coughing. You were still very congested but nothing like the scary raspy cough you had before. I'm writing this on January 7th and you are still congested & coughing occasionally and you even sometimes choke on the congestion.
